Nina Ulana Nina Ulana was born in Oak Park, Illinois and has been exhibiting her paintings and creating commissions since the early '90s. Upon viewing the artist's work, one can detect a strong theme of pattern and design. Line accentuates movement and color balances compositions. Often figurative, Nina's paintings have a narrative quality and hold symbolic images. The artist's preferred medium is acrylic, but at times she enjoys working in pastel. When not painting, Nina spends free time writing fiction. The artist has been a Scenic Designer and Technical Director for the stage, and has produced her own zine, "Blue Sugar; Sound Exposure for Artists & Authors". She earned a B.A. in Art, Art History Concentration, Psychology Minor, from DePaul University in Chicago, and was awarded a School of the Art Institute of Chicago Smith Scholarship. Nina is a member of the Oak Park Area Arts Council and auction contributor for OPACC, Oak Park Art League and Oak Park Avenue Business Association. You can email the artist at ninaulana@comcast.net .
